NO AFTERSCHOOL

People, I'm sorry, but I totally forgot that Monday is a shorten day when I said I would do afterschool help.

I have meetings until 2:45 or so on Monday, after the dismissal, so the only extra help I can give is during 2nd and 4th period.

Seating Plan and Homework

I've been marking your homework from the past two days, and in all honesty I'm not please. I think we could have all put in a bit more effort into doing those questions. Please promise me and promise yourself that you will try harder. We need to do well here so the rest of our semester will go smoothly.

On a brighter note, I was really please with the behaviour in our class today. The seating plan was harsh, but you have proven to me that when you need to, you can all pay close attention and learn, learn, learn! I don't want to be a wicked witch, but I will if that's the way to get you to learn. Afterall, that is my job.

Tomorrow we will be factoring so that we can get the factored form of the parabola if we are given the standard form only.

Monday is our review day, and I'll be taking up the homework I have collected that day. Study a bit over the weekend and make sure you ask me questions on Monday. The test on Tuesday will be long and hard. Be prepared!

See you all tomorrow!

Extra Help Times

Second period: If I don't have to supply for another teacher, I will be in room 206 for the first 20 minutes of that period.

Fourth Period: If you need my assistance tell me a period ahead of time, and I'll make arrangements to meet you in room 208 for up to half of the period. Most likely I'll meet you near the end of the period.

Afterschool: I'll be in room 206 for at least 10 minutes, and I can stay for quite a while. If I'm not in 206, then find me in the math office and we can work in 206, after you get me!

Classroom Expectations

I'm glad everyone comes to class; but if only we can all pay attention too! As students you are expected to give your undivided attention to the happenings in the classroom. You have a right to be confused and you have a right to not like what we are doing, but we must still proceed on with learning, AND it's expected that you try your absolute "bestest." Do remember that I'm not the one that needs the math credit... you do!

As I announced, our first test is on Monday. STUDY!!
Homework will be collected and marked tomorrow. What's for homework again? It's the investigation sheet on the standard form of parabolas.

Well well, work hard and I'll see you tomorrow.

Multiplying and Dividing Polynomials

We had a shortened period today, but lots was taught. Questions 1 - 6 (every other part) on the multiplying and dividing polynomials pages was assigned. I do expect that done for tomorrow and I will be checking.

Tomorrow we will be learning about parabolas again. This time, however, it will be the standard form of the parabola.

Just to refresh your brain, the vertex form looks like y = a(x - h)^2 + k and the factored form is y = a(x - s)(x - t). Guess what the standard form will look like.

Well.. I'll see you tomorrow... we will be making good use of the multiplying polynomials work we did today,so please remember to do your homework. Buhbye for now.

What should I do?

Like I said in class, I'm pretty disappointed with your test results, and starting to get annoyed with how you guys aren't really paying attention in class as much as I want you to. Some of you are learning a lot, while others of you... simply don't care.

What can I do? If you have any suggestions on how to make your semester better, please speak up. I don't mind some people getting off track a little.. but if you're not doing your work, I'm only going to have to start being mean! I really don't think you'll like that.

Anyhow, we are taking a break from the parabolas next day. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you already to learn on Monday. Remember both Monday and Tuesday are day 1s.

BUHBYE!

More Parabolas Tomorrow and Quiz Takeup

We'll start the class by taking up the quiz and then going into more investigation sheets on parabolas. I don't think we will be having a lot of "fun" until next week. There's lots of "boring" material to cover, but I promise to be there to try to make the class as entertaining as possible.

See you soon!
